Challenge: Supplier Diversity Annual Report.
How can you maximize your effectiveness while complying with state mandates? BNA Communications created a supplier diversity annual report and plan for San Jose Water Company that met CPUC requirements and could also be used as a marketing piece. The San Jose Water Company (SJWC), one of the largest and most technically sophisticated urban water systems in the United States, is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Each year, the CPUC requires utility companies to file a Utility Supplier Diversity Program (USDP) report detailing their compliance with supplier diversity procurement goals. In accordance with this requirement, SJWC enlisted the assistance of BNA Communications to write, design and produce an annual report that detailed SJWC’s commitment to supplier diversity and compliance with CPUC supplier diversity procurement requirements.
BNA edited, designed and produced a full-color document that included SJWC’s report for 2013 and plans for 2014. SJWC electronically delivered their USDP report to the CPUC by the March 2014 deadline. In addition, BNA printed additional copies for use as a marketing piece. The report was designed to be as easy to read as possible by multiple audiences.
The completed USDP report met all CPUC reporting requirements while also being aesthetically pleasing and accessible to the public. During a CPUC-hosted discussion with all of California’s utility companies addressing supplier diversity, the SJWC report was singled out from 34 reports as exemplary of form and function for other companies to use as a reference.
